Recoil with the XDsc 40?
Hey guys,
How does the recoil of the SC9 compare to that of the SC40. Would you say it is a lot more? thanks. |

the XDSC9, you should handle it well. Just a matter of getting used to a more powerful machine. Ed |

The recoil on the 45ACP Service isn't a lot more than the 9mm Service. Just needs a tighter grip. Nothing overwhelming. I would guess the recoil on the 40 SC wouldn't be a whole lot over the 9 SC.

Now I'm really confused...where did the 45ACP come into the question? As for the 40 over the 9...I'd say it's a little more (recoil) but certainly not a lot more.

Shooting any of the service calibers is a whole
lot different than shooting the SCs. My experience, first hand as I do own the 9mm and the .40S&W SC, one has to take into consideration the size of one's hand, whether or not one is sensitive to recoil and the extra blast noise. For sure, there is a BIG difference in shooting the 9mm vs. the .40S&W SC. I would suggest that one try the .40S&W SC before buying it if there is a chance to do so. Again, as with any other firearm, you either like it or you do not like it. Personally, I like both of my SCs. Ed |

I've got a service (4") .40S&W and a buddy with a .40S&W sub-compact, and let me tell you, shooting them back to back, the sub-compact is a whole different animal with a lot more bite

When I 1st got into guns about 2 yrs ago I did not like the .40 cal, and had a hard time with it.
Now that ive been shooting a lil while I find the .40 no huge deal, and bought my xd sc. Do i prefer to shoot my 9mm at the range sure.......is the .40 tameable ABSOLUTELY. Now the .500 magnum I shot the other day at the range is a whole other story............... |

XD40 recoil
A lot depends on what you're shooting. I find a noticeable difference between "range" ammo and Gold Dots in my XD40SC. The one is comfortable to shoot; the other is not. None the less, I generally shoot 2/3 range ammo and 1/3 Gold Dots (if I wasn't so cheap it'd be all Gold Dots).
