Gun Storage?
Just wondering how you all store your guns. I live in CT and I can't seem to dig up gun storage laws. Someone told me that if someone breaks into my house and uses my gun in a crime, I can get in trouble unless the gun was locked up.
Do you store it in a locked box? Do you store it in an unlocked box with a cable through the slide? Do you leave it loaded on your nighttable? How about in a car? Is it legal to have a loaded gun accesible in a car? I also heard you can have a loaded gun in a car but it can't be accesible by any passengers which kind of forces you to keep it in the trunk. Thanks, Chris |

I am not sure about the LAw's in your state of CT, but gun safety should be your number one priority. Contact your local NRA affiliate and research your applicable LAW, so that it's NOt hear say.

Obviously safety is a big concern however, should the need to use the gun come up, I also don't think i'll have time to unlock a box, unlock the cable and load the gun. There has to be a middle ground somewhere.

When I'm out or when I have house guests, I keep my handguns in a safe that uses an 8-digit keypad combo to open.

Gunsafe. Very similar to KoL's. Will cost you $700-$2000 depending on model and features.

1. Yes i have a nice gun safe i got on a killer sale at DICKS sporting goods 2. guns that are not on my persons are kept locked up and nobody knows the combo but me. 3. at night time i keep it cocked and ready to go in the nightstand 4. if there are no passangers in your car and you have a permit in CT as long as its out of sight its fine. 5. if passengers are in our car it still only has to be out of site, provided all riders are over 21 6. you can get in trouble if some under age kid breaks into your house steals your gun or shoots himself, provided 1. you were grossly negligent I.E kept a loaded gun on you coffee table in plain view un locked and loaded, if you take any safey measures what so ever, like a gun lock in a sock drawer your fine. then again i wouldn't want to put it to the test, if i was you i would get a nice safe if you plan on collecting or having mulit. guns, nothing would be worse IMO if somebody broke into my house and used one of my guns on myself or my family. just my 2 cents |
