I can't comment on the .40 SC as I've never owned one and have only shot one a handful of times. I've never really liked the feel of the .40 S&W cartridge and would rather have the extra capacity (and extra ammo/cost) of 9mm.

I can say that my 9 SC (when I had it) ate about 1250 rounds trouble free. It had 1 single FTF in it's life and that was due to a piss poor piece of ammo.

I ended up getting a G19 for CCW. The SC is just to thick/bulky for for me. Im still waiting for that perfect CCW pistol to come out.

I am not a fan of 9mm at all. I just dont like the way any 9mm pistols shoot even though I own a xd9mm tactical. I would much rather shoot the 40 any day as long as I could afford it. My xd sc40 has been flawless to date. For some reason I just like the recoil of the 40 round better.

I own both an XD9 Service Bi-Tone ( put over 2,500 rounds through it) and I just purchased an XD40 Sub-Compact Bi-Tone (put about 150 rounds through it so far).

I love them both. My girlfriend shot the Service XD9 first then she shot about 50 rounds through my XD40 Sub Compact. She said, "I like the XD40 better, the recoil is basically the same."

I have to agree. Recoil is all in your mind. I love my XD9 Service; it was my first gun and my favorite gun. Now my XD40 SC is going to tie it and be my new carry. (Service is a bit big for me I'm only 5'6.5")

If the XD SC isn't going to be your main carry and going to be more of a range gun, then an XD9 SC would probably be preferrable. But if you are planning on carrying it, I definately recommend the XD40.

THEY'RE BOTH GOOD YOU CAN'T LOSE!

I have a .40SC and love it! It's great, and plus now you can get the 9mm conversion barrel for plinking!

Acronyms rule.
