I bought a XD9SC when they first came out. I have over 7k rounds through it and have never had a single problem. I have used almost every kind of ammo available in 9mm. My brother has a XD40SC and it has ran flawlessly for him as well. I personally do not like the .40s&w in the XDSC. It has a little too much recoil for me to be able to have lcomfortable ong term practice sessions with. I also believe that you should practice as much as possible with your carry ammo and carry weapon. 9mm ammo is much more affordable to practice with than .40 s&w. I do load my own so that helps some but many out there do not load there own and it could get tough to practice the needed time unless you have deep pockets to pay for the .40s&w rounds.
I have never owned a glock but I have shot plenty of them. I much prefer the XD to a Glock. I think they are starting to have been around enough and had enough daily use and torture tests done on them that prove their reliability and performance against the Glock. This is just my opinion and everyone knows what opinions are like; earlobes, every one has two and some have holes in them! Goodluck and be safe!

Sold Glock for XD
I sold my Glock 26 to buy my XD9 sc.
I carried the Glock for 10 years so I was already used to a 9mm. I had a Sig P229 in 40. I also had an extra 357sig barrel. I loved the 357sig, but never cared for the 40. I sold the pistol because I didn't like the single action. It was way too light for me. If it was a DAO I would still have it. I prefer a continuous trigger pull in a stressful situation. I also have an XD9 service so I can just buy 9mm ammo. Ammo is high lately. I paid $25 for a box of 20 Gold Dot 124 gr +P this weekend. 40 isn't that much higher than 9MM, but it adds up fast. The XD has a much better feel to it for my hands. The Glock 26 has more bottom on the back strap and dug into the palm of my hand. The stock XD sc mag floorplate has a slight lip on it that helped me grip the shorter grip. Much better than the Glock grip. I tried finger extensions on the Glock but didn't like them. Don't need them for the XD. Last edited by 1lowlife; 10-07-2007 at 11:44 PM. |

Do they have it for the subcompact already? I thought it was only for the Tactical and Service.

If you already have a 9 and don't have a 40 I'd stick with the 9. For the 40 thats just another new caliber to buy and stockpile ammo for.
I'm one of those SHTF guys, so I decided on 9mm for home defense. I have 2 XD 9s, a service and a SC, and 2 Marlin camp 9 9mm carbines. The pistols are for in close protection and the carbines are good for 100 yards out.

I try to consolidate my calibers to as few as possible. After shooting a .357 sig for the first time this weekend though, I'd really like to own one!

I have an XD9SC AND a Taurus PT145SSP.
We can arrange to get together so you can shoot both if you want. Let me know. I'm happy to go out and shoot anytime and if it will help you decide, all the better. For the record, I have somewhere between 300 and 400 through my XD9SC with no issues whatsoever due to ammo. I accidently locked the barrel twice the first day I shot it due to my week thumb locking the slide lock when the gun recoiled. This is mainly because you find yourself choking up more than you do with a full size grip so with my hands anyway, the thumb tip is right at the slide lock. I altered my grip on that gun that day and have never had it happen again. You also may find you like the Taurus PT145 a lot too. I do.

Old thread, yeah, I don't usually look at the date of a thread.
