I know this has prolly been covered already but I can't find it
I've had a spray bottle of this stuff in the cabinet for months, and haven't used it because I've heard it may clean too well.....leavin the weapon void of vital oil in places
So do ya soak the "guts" of the XD down, let it run out , wipe it down clean....then resoak with oil the same way and let dry?? I usually love the CLP, but I only clean with qtips until everything reachable is clean.
Any tips??
I wanna make sure things are nice and free of crap inside without havin to tear the thing all the way apart

If you are referring to Break-Free "Powder Blast", WalMart sells it. Great stuff!

After a good wiping down, I usually spray Break-free on a toothbrush and thoroughly brush the inside of the slide assembly. Then I let it sit for a minute or so and wipe off any excess. Seems to work well.

[Edit] I'm not referring to "Powder Blast" whatever that is.

One warning in regards to Powder Blast. If you read the warnings on the can (which I didn't

) it says not to use on painted surfaces. They aren't kidding. It took the "clear coat" right off of my S&W airweight .38. I guess it helps to read the warnings sometimes.

i think i might just stick to using the plain clp stuff from break-free
it seems to do the trick...i wasn't sure if it got into tight places as well

So you guys that use the CLP, do you just spray the inside of the slide down real good and let it dry? Ive got a can of the stuff, but Im not exactly sure on how its intended to be used. I know its supposed to clean and lube, but does it provide enough lube just by doing that??

Think of it as Hoppe's powder solvent + oil in a spray can.

I just wipe the surfaces with a CLP-soaked patch until they are clean. Then I use a clean CLP-soaked patch to apply a final coat of lube to the metal surfaces, then reassemble. I do put a couple extra drops on the slide rails, barrel hood, etc. The exterior surfaces dry to a film in a day or so. If I'm going to use the gun immediately I usually wipe the assembled gun down with a towel to dry it off.
