does this extractor look right?
Short story: lots of extractor problems with the claw slipping off the round, leaving the case half in the chamber. Multiple brands of ammo, different magazines, etc. Compared it to a new XD at the gun shop, and things look different. My extractor is "pointier" and leaves a space between the claw and the case rim. Anything obviously wrong here?
Without a round: ![]() With a round placed by hand. Note the space. I'd say the loaded chamber indicator has a better crip at this point...

Mine has about the same amount of space. But the end of your extractor does look more "pointed" then mine.
I've had 3-4 FTEs in about 1800 rounds. All when using WWB, so thats what I attribute it to. Here are a couple of pics from my XD. ![]() A 100% crop of the above pic.

In the second picture the hook looks to be kinda rounded off. The whole area looks like it could use a real good cleaning (maybe it's just the reflection in the pictures). Gunk in those areas can really screw up proper operation.

I just looked at mine, and I've got no space between the extractor and the casing. I've only got 350 rounds through, though. I don't know how much the extractor should wear.

Im no expert but 98% of my pistols have no space between the cartridge and the extractor, and your extractor is damaged.

Okay. It's been like that from the start, I beleive, so maybe I got a bad one.
One other curiosity....If I clear a chambered round with no magazine, the round drops out the mag well instead of being truly "ejected". Normal or no? |

Its normal and especially a pain with a small caliber pistol thats blowback operated, tilt the gun slightly to the right and point it at the ground or slightly up and it will pop out and away every time

You can see the space on mine in my pics.
I don't have any problems with FTEs.
