If you make a habit of being on Gator Patrol, I'd look for something a tad bit better for the truck than a 40 from what you're saying about barely having any penetration. It sounds like you need something that would destroy the sucker...not give him a ding on the noggin!

I just put my FMJ Ball ammo in the Truck, Gator's skin is tough and the HP's worked but the ball won't fragment and go into the meat and will penetrate deeper.

The gator in my avatar I shot with my High Standard .22 and slowed him up because the bang stick with the .357 didn't go off and pissed him off and he slapped a 2 foot dent in the front of the 10 ft boat we were in and was turning to take one of us out for good, but I was ready as he swam out five feet and turned toward us I fired one shot and stop him dead in his tracks and made him wonder, then added four more to it.

It's all a mater of placement, but I rather have the .40 and leave the .22 at home for practice, when I want to put many bullets in the same holes

now that those things are back in force, there should be a longer season for harvesting. they are really cool creatures but need to be managed just like deer, bear, and the rest. sounds like you found a fun nich that makes you a little money, gets you out on interesting calls, allows you to meet some interesting folks, and get the rush of taking down one of the oldest predators on the planet. fun!

Well since we had 3 girls killed in a week, the State is making the season longer and give trappers more tags for nuisance gators.

We have 1.5 million Gators so there going to thin it down, even though a few have called for them to be only in zoo's or the everglades
