why does my last casing consistently hit me in the forehead?
i've got a XD9 service model with a little over 2000 rounds through it. the 500 rounds or so, i've noticed/developed a problem. the first 15 casings go up and to the right as they should, but the very last one is always hitting me right between the eyes! its quite annoying...not as annoying as it being more consisitent and accurate than myself. any input?

Top of my head
It's weird that you posted this. My last one always goes straight up and back and lands smack dab on top of my head. What gives?

I get the same thing on my XD's.
I figure its because there isn't another bullet coming up from the magazine to help push the empty off the the right side.

thanks for the first morning laugh. Wear a hat, it's always better then having a hot case go down your shirt, or worse yet, land in that space right between your glasses and eyeball. |

it was designed that way in hopes of a military contract.. its actually a military spec..
in the heat of battle, soldiers can get zoned out and keep shooting a empty gun.. the thiking is the last case hitting you will make u know the gun is empty. in basic training they spend days doing drills... case hits ur head.. RELOAD! |

Are you left-handed?
Glocks do that consistently to me, which is why I'm not a Glock-owner. The XD ejects more laterally instead of to the rear, so the casings don't whack me in the face or go down my shirt. Not sure why the last one would kick more rearward, but it's possible that as the gun lightens up (mag becoming more and more empty) your grip is shifting the trajectory of the ejected casing...? T |

I've had the same problem, though when I shoot Blazer aluminums every case does that. Just gotta get used to it I guess, and get a hat.
