XD45 mag ??
how come the XD 45 mag can hold 13 round and the XD40 only hold 12 round? you would think the 45 cal. is a bigger bullet then the 40.their for holding less then a 40 mag. what the different between the 40 mag and the 45 mag?? they both look the same to me size wise.

the .45 mag is larger, thats why it can hold 13 vs the 12 rds in the .40. The mag can be larger, because the frame for the .45 is larger.

Re: XD45 mag ??
Most double-stack .40 handguns were originally designed as 9mm. When loaded with 9mm, the rounds have no or very little space between rounds on the same side of the stack. When loaded with .40, rounds only touch diagonal neighbors, with a good bit of space between neighbors on the same side. A fairly small increase in width lets the rounds stack a lot tighter--Possible if you are starting from scratch, but not practical converting an existing 9mm frame.
