Trigger job vs safety

I am considering sending my XD9 SC to Rich for a 1911 like triggerjob with a 4 pound trigger. Do you think this will make my xd more prone to an ad when it's used for concealed carry? Would your answer be the same if it had no backstrap saftey?

The grip safety is one of the reasons I picked the XD over the Glock. I like to carry IWB sans holster and couldn't feel comfortable doing it with the glock. If you keep your finger off the trigger four pounds won't be any different than 6 or 7. My Xd9 has the canyon creek trigger job and it is fantastic. I highly recommend it.

My XD is my main carry gun.

I had Rich do a trigger job with 4# pull on it. And its worth every penny. I don't worry about the safety of it at all.

The main reason I sent it half way across the county for Rich to do the trigger job is because he is an expert on the XD. I'm sure I could have found somebody local to do it but Rich has an excellent reputation for XD work. I'm sure he would never let anything leave his shop that was "unsafe".

AD will not be a problem!...However...ND is strictly up to you.

+1. You will need to practice with your new trigger, alot, before you ever use it for carry. Like any new gun, you will need to learn it (again). As long as your trigger is out of the guard, your gun will never fire.

What is the usual turn around time for trigger jobs ? Also what's the best way to ship the weapon ? Sorry for the dumb questions but I have never shipped a firearm off to be "tricked out"; I've always either bought the gun from the company's custom shops or taken it to a local gunsmith.

You can legally ship your handgun overnight by common carrier. That would be FedEx or UPS. The gunsmith can then ship it directly back to you.

I actually bought my 9 with the CC job already done. It definitly has the take up reduced. I always liked the stock XD trigger but the CC job is something that really needs to be felt to be appreciated. I suppose I should e-mail Rich to find out exactly everything that he did with my gun.

I think both of these statements are right on.

Keep your finger off of the trigger until your sights are on target! That is your best bet to avoid a ND. And the best way to accomplish this is to practice, practice, practice.

FWIW, I have trigger jobs from Rich on both of my XD's. One is for daily carry and the other is for range and home defense use. It is money well spent.
