Ported XD

Hey, I'm new to the forum.

I work at a gun range (which happens to be my "home away from home") as a second job. We also sell guns.

Needless to say, I get awesome discounts and pretty much spend my extra funds on the 'goodies' we get in every week.

I recently purchased the XD9 and it is just the SWEETEST gun I own! I loved it so much, I just bought the XD 45. That is just as impressive as the 9mm. Same performance and ergonomics.

I'm sure you all know, but the SA-XD45 won the 2006 pistol of the year! To no suprise.

But my question is......does anyone know when SA is going to release the ported version of the 45? 2007 maybe?

Thanks!

No idea, when i asked them all they said was " we don't have the 45acp in a ported version , yet". So I guess it would be coming, who knows when.

I just joined today to ask the same question - I'm researching what gun to buy when I turn 21 in September and it would be helpful to know if I would have to wait long for a ported version of the 45.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. They have yet to release a bi-tone 45 and I haven't seen a hint of a 45 ported. Best thing to do is to send it off to a gunsmith and have them do it for you. Then again, that would void the warranty from Springfield.

I would assume early 2007, probably as a brand new listing. Nobody seems to know though, and SA isn't talking.

Thanks! I guess we're all waiting for the same thing.

Has anyone put a LaserMax rod in their XD? If so, how is it?

One of the non-USA forum members said that in his country they already have bi-tones 45's. It's a matter of S.A. bringing them into the USA.

Don't hold your breath. The sales of V-10's in existing models have been less than stellar. I guessing they are not in a big rush to get a ported 45 on the market.

on the subject of porting....

Can anyone tell me whether or not an XD service model can be ported aftermarket, maybe sending to an outfit like Mag-na port? I am sure that this would void the warranty, but it was just a thought. If possible, maybe buying a new slide/barrel and doing it as an experiment. Any thoughts on this?

Wrong... I saw a XD45 ACP Bi-Tone tactical at The bullet Trap in Plano last saturday... I was SSOOOOOOOO close to saying screw it and buying it. But a new gun is not what I need to spend $500 on right now.
