any 1 try Militec-1 Synthetic Metal Conditioner

got some off eBay and it came in the mail today. after I can home from the range I clean my XD and use about 10 drop Militec on a rag and wipe ever thing down with it plastic and metal! work pretty good! even after you wipe it down dry it still felt slick on the metal parts and it has a nice new gun smell to it! here the info on it.

Militec-1 Synthetic Metal Conditioner has the unique ability to create a complex, molecular compound within the surface of heated gunmetal. This causes Militec-1 to become part of the metal, not merely a temporary coating or a boundary film. There are two main characteristics of this safe new compound. First, it seals and conditions the metal by stiffening (not hardening) the metal surface. Second, after a complete application it makes the gunmetal self-lubricating under all environmental conditions. Self-lubrication gives the firearm's gunmetal the dry lubricity that is required for sustained fire under all environmental conditions.

A Militec-1-treated firearm can be wiped completely clean and dry and will still retain adequate lubrication. That’s right - no liquid lubricant, but still completely lubricated. This is because Militec-1 is in the metal, not just on the surface, so the liquid component is unnecessary. This unique self-lubricating effect was used to great advantage in Desert Storm, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Iraq. Clean, dry Militec-1-treated weapons continued to fire even in blowing dust and sand, since there was no liquid for the dust particles to adhere to and gum up the works. This same effect is useful in extremely cold conditions where there is no liquid to congeal and slow down or freeze the action

Militec is okay. I used it for a while. It's an oil. What more can I say? I didn't buy into the bonding hype although some swear by it. It does not have corrosion protection properties though..

I have email them for samples before and they sent me two small bottles. Last awhile and you can also request their grease.

Have you tried to get the oil to bond with the metal? You can oil the metal parts and throw it in the oven but I don't know how well it would work and I don't have an oven.

Militec is/was designed as a transmission oil additive (check their website), not as a stand alone product. As such, the chlorine content is to high when used alone, it is not a cleaner, nor does it have anti-corrosion additives (many tests on the web have shown this). In fact, when it breaks down from the friction/asperities collisions of metal movement, the by products can actually rust your gun. The dry climate over in the big sandbox has helped to reduce the instances of corrosion, but just wait till those guns come back here. It won't be pretty.

Also, a few troops over on AR15.com have reported orders coming down to stop using Militec. Hmmmmm....

The whole heating your gun thing is the icing on the cake. Individual asperity collisions (microscopic metal peaks that collide) can generate over 300C, in that one tiny area. This heat comes and goes almost instantly, but is more than enough to activate the chemical response. Heating your gun with a hair dryer or oven is useless.

I put Militec at the top of the "snake oil" heap, and it goes nowhere near my guns.

I use it and think its great. I order it by the case with the guys from work. It keeps the guns from fouling up so cleaning is a lot easier and it definately reduced jams in our guns, esp. the .22's.

I use Militec-1, as well, and have had great success with it. I think it should be mentioned, though, that it does not advertise as a rust inhibitor or a cleaner, but a lube, so it's a little unfair to compare it to products it was never meant to compete with. When it DOES come to lubing, though, Militec-1 stands out above the rest.

I use BreakFree CLP to clean, and Militec-1 to lube.

I bought some snake-oil and used it on my XD40: Microlon Gun Juice. It sound similar to Militec1 in how it is applied and some of the claims. The slide action is very smooth even when pretty dry, so I like the feel of it. Of course since dry is so wrong I keep a little normal oil on it too, but the feel is much better than just plain oil.
Chlorine has a bad rap for automobile engines because of acid formations when the conditions are right (or wrong). SAE considers chlorine a contaminant for motor oil, but for other lube applications chlorine is known as a great high pressure lube. I figured I'd use it and look for corrosion and I haven't seen any for a couple of years now.
