Have you had extractor issues with your XD?

Easy enough question. Have you had extractor issues with your XD? If yes can you post the approx time of purchase, caliber and round count.

For me it was an XD service 9mm at around 1000 rounds, purchased almost two years ago. It choked on everything and wouldnt make it through a single mag.

3 friends of mine experianced the exact same issue.

I want to determine if this problem has passed

Just after learning about common XD extractor issues my XD 9mm Service purchased in mid spring 2005 started to have intermittent, almost tempermental FTE issues around 500 rounds which usually were rectified by being ignorant of cash' and using more expensive proven rounds though that only was successful for so long because FTEs gradually became more persistant. I haven't found a permanent solution without having S.A. take a look see at my extractor *grumbles add blech

I've got an XD .40 V-10. Purchased last fall and I've got about 500 rounds through it. It's digested cheap ammo as well as higher priced stuff without a single problem. I'm really satisfied with it.

You don't need SA to look at it. You can do it yourself.

Field strip the pistol.

After you remove the barrel from the slide place a round against the breech face under the extractor in the same position it would be if the barrel was there and there was a round in the chamber.

The extractor should put tension on the round and hold the round in place.

As you slide the round under the extractor your should see the extractor move away from the center of the slide as it grips the rim of the round.

If you have no tension on the round your extractor is the problem.

Also look closely at the extractor at the end where it grips the rim of the case. See if a small piece has broken off.

Check to see if some brass or other foreign material has become caught between the slide and the extractor. Some debris in this area can hold the extractor away from the rim of the round.

You asked, "Have you had extractor issues with your XD"?

I had to vote no. I have not had any extractor issues with my XD.

I have seen others that did.
