Added a XD 40SC to the family!
I LOVE IT!
I went out shooting today, took the whole family, and a few friends, and had a blast. We shot a large variety of guns, but the big hit was the XD 40 sc. I shot the SC with the standard mag with my pinky under the mag, it was awkward, but I managed. After all of the talk about the recoil I was expecting it to be alot more than it was. It was nothing! I had my wife, daughter, and friends shoot it, I think that the 40sc would be a fantastic carry/personal defense weapon for anyone. Actually I think I will end up buying my wife one soon. But I think the daughters will be going for the 9...there is A LOT of practice in their futures, and I am going to need cheaper ammo!

wanted to talk to some one that just got a new XD40SC so here it is:
Is your slide a real b!tch to pull back if no mag is loaded. I just got my gun a week ago and everyone loved it, but as i'm showing all my friends I look like an idiot. I drop the mag, and cycle the slide to lock it back (i dont like to hand anyone a gun with out the slide locked back, its just a handling thing i was taught), but it seriously takes one hand fully graping the grip pushing foward and the other hand pulling the slide back. Now where is my 3rd hand to push the slide lock up? let me know if its just me. Maybe my recoils spring is just way too tight. I want my fiance to be able to use the gun, but i know she couldnt pull the slide back. its just too darn tight. thanx, Dan

dtdprobe,
I have a XD-SC in .40 and I have around 500 problem-free rounds through it. I have not noticed the slide being excessively tight or hard to cycle. Is the gun brand new or has it been shot/cleaned? Im assuming you have the stock recoil spring.

My slide works fine, i put about 200 rounds through it sunday, and cycled it by hand a dozen or more time, the only time i had an issue was if i didnt get the grip safety held in all the way.
