Guys,
I am planning on ordering a DeSantis Speed Scabbard holster online from Hoffman's Gun Center because it is $15 cheaper than buying directly from DeSantis. I notice that in the drop down menu, Hoffman's has the XD9/XD40 as a single choice. On the DeSantis site, the XD9 and XD40 holsters are listed as two separate choices.

I have the XD9 Service. Are the XD9 and XD40 pistols pretty much the same size? Does the same holster work with both?

I'd like to get your opinions before I make a mistake and buy the wrong thing. (see links below)

The same holster should work for both the XD9 and XD40 Service models.

I have 3 holsters from Don Hume and 1 from Kramer for my XD9 Service, they all all marked "XD40". They all fit my XD9 just fine.

DeSantis might be doing something goofy with their site. Here is a scan of the package that the Speed Scabbard for my XD came in: http://photos.mcdorce.com/DeSantis_S.jpg

It fits the XD9 Service fine. It also fits the 4" version of the XD45ACP.

My XD40 and XD45 both fit in my Fobus SP11 holster.

correct me if im wrong but most holsters made for the service, tactical, or sc should fit all calibers of that type. lets say u r buying a holster for your 40 service, but the holster says xd9 service. the holster should fit all service models, mabe not the 45 acp tho, as i have not had the chance to compare this to my xd40 service as far as dimentions go.

Not my Comptac belt holster the XD40 will not fit comfortable in the XD9 holster.

The holster arrived today... less than 48 hours after I ordered it. It is perfect. I really like DeSantis leather holsters. Maybe because they are made about 45 min drive from my house. Gotta buy local and all. Just don't tell anyone I ordered from a store in Connecticut.
