Sort of. It is on the Wichita PD list of approved duty weapons. The officers have to buy their own. They have a choice between Glock or XD. So sayeth the gun guy at the Wichita Gander Mountain where many LEO buy their guns (including the two sheriff deputies I saw there picking up their Glocks).

I think it's just a matter of time before it's issued/approved for LEO's across the country.

I'm sure it would happen MUCH faster if Glock didnt sell thier pistols to LEO (contracts) @ pennies on the dollar while promising 10 minute turnaround time on repairs. If SA could offer the same deal XD's would be everywhere.

Glock doesn't sell to anybody for pennies on the dollar. Glock does promise and deliver quick turnaround time and a product that even a small-town l.e.o. can learn to service in one day.

Agreed. I was exaggerating the pennies on the dollar thing. They do have a healthy LEO purchase program though making them VERY affordable.

a few years back i had to send my xd-9 sc back for warrenty slide refinishing, bad rusting on a 3 month old gun on the front left side of the slide, anyways, i was asked if i was LEO and if this was my back up weapon, i said no,, but why do you ask, and she said we try to get the LEO's warrenty work in and out as fast as we can because they need them back as quickly as possible. so i can only assume if a LEO had a XD as a duty gun they would get them fixed and out the door back to them at lightning speed, as for my slide, i was not impressed at all with the turn around time, every time i called,, it was,, oh, 2 weeks and you will have it back,, 2 weeks turned into 9 weeks, i hope they got better over the past few years, Dave

I'm a LEO, and my department approved the XDs for duty, backup, and off-duty carry

I'm going to carry an XD-45ACP on duty and an XD-9 SubCompact for backup/off-duty
