Stop the Rust!
Ok.. I will chime in a bit about the Duracoat...
If you try the 'aged' look and don't like it.. it can easily be Duracoated.. you just would bead/abrasive blast the slide first. Now... as to the rust concerns on the 'aged' finish.. you can have anyone who does Duracoat 'clear coat' the slide. It will keep it from rusting. Duracoat clear comes in a matte, satin and gloss. BTW.. I like the 'aged' look too..

After more than two months, the finish still looks good with no rust. I just wipe it down with an oily rag about once a week.

Well I have not had any issues with rust what so ever. I did armadillo the heck out of the slide when I finished sanding it. I think that the armadillo really makes the difference. I did apply the 'dillo' rough and used a blow drier to melt that stuff real good unto the slide. So far so good, after the 'dillo' process I lightly oiled the slide. I do worry about rust but I make sure the the slide is well protected, blue wonder products do a good job.. Just my 2 cents if anybody wondered...
