stupid/gay/looks question

okay, i know the flames are coming. I can feel my ears burning already, so here goes:

can you buy ported slides? Does springfield sell just the slide? I REALLY like the way it looks, but don't want the ported barrel. If not, i'll just buy a second one, but with a new barrel to boot.

I don't know that they'd sell it due to all the firing mechanisms within it. Plus they are stamped with matching serial numbers to the barrels and frame. You could have a standard slide machined to your liking.

You want the slide like the Glock 34/35? I don't think it looks gay at all. It's functional.
While not ported check this out..

You can have your slide milled out to be ported, then purchase a ported barrel for it. The slide is not for sale by itself. Yes oni I know this. I had a XD 9mm V10 that had a cracked slide (just behind the front sight, from left to right) I asked S.A. if they would replace just the slide. They said they cannot do that, due to serial numbers and fit.

I was thinking about doing that to my 9mm service, cool. Though a ported is a ported from S.A. .

Yes I want to do this as well. Rich at CC says he will do this but it does voids the warranty. I will be doing it myself as soon as I find a milling machine.

Looks nice! I'd do it just to balance out the gun. I find my 45 Tac a bit too muzzle heavy. Warranty..bleh!

The last time I brought this up a guy mentioned that lowering the spring rate would cause more force on the locking block and taking weight out of the slide would reduce those forses on the locking block.

I want to do it to get a really cool looking, smooth shooting gun. The only downsides are the warranty and that debris can get in the slide but who really drags their gun through the dirt....I don't. I like taking this metal out because their are no stress forces in this part of the slide anyway it's just a cover. And any decent machinst should be able to knock this out in about two hours easy. You would have to refinish the edges but that's not a big deal.

Like a lot people say and it's true, do what you want it's all personnal opinion. But practice that makes a difference.
