I need help!

I am trying to get my sights off to install my new ones but I am having a hard time removing the stock sights. I bought the dawsons and I have the tool. do you just keep hitting from the side to push it out or what. I am scared I am going to break something I am hitting it so hard with no luck. Please advise.

I think you're supposed to remove them from left to right. Some people have suggested putting the slide in the freezer for a 1/2 hour.

Hope this helps.

If you have a vice grip wrench and a spare patch of leather or similar thick material which will protect your stock sights from being scratched by the vice grip wrench, try gripping onto the sights with the said wrench using the leather patch as a guard between the teeth of the wrench and the sights then jiggle/wiggle it with different motions in varied directions. This may loosen whatever the sights are so reluctant to let loose of.

OK I got the rear off but now I can't get the front off. It says the front might have a screw. I looked and did not see one. It also says to hit from right to left with no luck. Am I doing it right. Is there a scew of some kind I am missing or do I just keep pounding away?

That's odd. I re-read all the old posts, and everyone from Ajames on said right to left. Remove them going away from the ejection port.

*laughs* Does whatever manual you are reffering to say that there definitely is a screw? If so find out exactly where it is placed, in case you covered it by moving the slide. Otherwise I say continue pounding.

Remember, just because somebody posts a "suggestion" here means they have a clue as to what they are doing.

Use the search function, see what a few members here have done, before you possibly damage your slide and sights.

I do have a bench mount vise and the manuel says it might have a screw The rear(above the grip) sight came off left to right (looking down like you do to shoot) and I have tried both with no luck with the front.
