Subcompact has/needs relief holes in locking block?
I've seen a few threads about cracked locking blocks on XDs, but has anyone heard of this problem on the subcompact?
I called S.A. the other day and asked about my XD40SC. Gave them the serial # and they said it should be no problem since it was manufactured around Nov. 2005. However, I've examined the locking block, and unless the holes are drilled incredibly small, I don't think it has them. I looked at a new XD45 at the local shop last week and the drill holes were easily spotted. Now does this mean the subcompact doesn't need the relief holes, or that the lady at S.A. was wrong and my SC wasn't manufactured recently enough to have the new drill holes? Thanks for the info in advance... |

She must be wrong, so I'd keep an eye on the locking block and send it in at the first sight of cracks

Since I'm back in this thread I'll share an awesome LB story with you about my XD-40SC that I had. It went to SA once for some problems and was returned two weeks later. About 1000 rounds later some other stuff broke so back to SA it goes! I told them that even though the LB wasnt cracked YET it was the old style LB. I would appreciate it if you would install a new LB in it....that if I had to send it back a THIRD time for something that could have been easily avoided while they already had it, I would "lose it". They agreed. I get the gun back about a week later and sure enough they installed the a new LB....an OLD STYLE LB WITHOUT THE RELIEF CUTS!!! I was so PO'ed I didnt even know what to say....oh well. SA is USUALLY on top of them so I don't want to knock them too hard. I got them to send me a FREE mag for having to send in my same pistol twice in about a month and a half!
