Opinion of Springfield's "Carry Pro" option for th

I am interested in getting the trigger pull reduced and slack taken out. If anyone out there has had this done by Springfield Armory, please let me know what you think of the modifications.

Haven't had it done, but seems as though the folks that have are happy with it. One benefit of having SA do the work is it will not void the warranty.

The only problem I see with getting a trigger job is if you lighten the trigger pull. This seems to be a prosecuters wet dream. A CCW firearm used to shoot an innocent mugger and it had been altered by means of a light trigger pull. I've been reading alot about this lately and even police officers have gotten nailed by prosecuters on this very thing. So be careful if the pistol your getting reworked is the very one you carry for protection.

This keeps getting said, but I have yet to hear of ONE documented case.
If you've got any I'd love to see them.

pick up a copy of the new combat handgun mag. theres an article on this subject and he sites several cases where a light trigger got the shooter in trouble. one of the cases involved a cop with a light trigger on a shotgun.

Ya know, unless you shoot Rosie O'Fatty or something, I doubt very much that the dude mugging you or attacking your family while breaking in to your house for crack money is going to have the scratch to get a lawyer to sue you over a light trigger. Any good defense lawyer would rip that crap to shreds.

Well, in the world of the criminal justice system, anything and everything can happen. Lawyers and prosecutors don't always make the case go the right way. Prosecutors have convicted innocent people, lawyers have gotten guilty as sin people off. Only need one word for this. OJ

Now to answer the question. I purchased a magazine a while back that had an XD-9 that had the carry pro option on it. The guy doing the testing on it was very pleased. He said there was about 1/32" inch pre travel, and overall only 1/4" total travel. One thing you might want to consider, removing slack but leaving the trigger pull weight alone if it is your carry piece, as others have suggested.

Rich at Canyon Creek offers a 4# pull with the travel removed a shortened reset. This seem to be the perfect carry setup.
In a stress situation, fine motor function goes bye-bye, and trigger pull won't mean a darn thing. A 10# "NY trigger" will feel no different than a 2# comp job.
