I really want a Service 9mm now...

Should I do it? I have an xd40 SC that I really like but its expensive to shoot, I'd really like to get into a 9mm Service that I may enjoy shooting more and save some $$ on rounds. I'm worried if I really like the 9 in a larger frame size that I'd never want to shoot the 40. I like the idea of the Sub compact for carry and the added knockdown power of .40 but I feel good placement from a smaller, more controlled 9mm round would be just as effective and i'd never want the .40 around. (I dont carry now but would really like to get my permit) Man what would YOU do?? do those of you who have both these calibers prefer one over the other?

i own a 9mm and a .40 The 9mm is my plinker and my .40 is my carry gun. I dont realy prefer one round over the other and they each have their advantages. I say just get the service 9mm

Honestly I'm not a fan of the .40 nor do I promote it but I would retrieve one just because of it's versatility(interchangable barrels). Somethings are unaccepetable like there being no EFK firedragon barrels for the sub.

I've carried my service HS2K for 5 years and with the variety of +P and +P+ out there, you will not be under-gunned.

I had an XD-40SC that was initially my carry gun but got rid of it for several reasons.

1. I was unlucky enough to get what I consider to be a problematic one.
Read about it here if you like http://www.hs2000talk.com/viewtopic....er=asc&start=0
2. I shoot 9mm better than .40
3. As you stated shot placement is more important than caliber.
4. 9mm is more readily available and less expensive.

I now have an XD-9SC (my first XD) XD-9 Service and XD-45ACP Service as well. I personally have no desire to have a .40 in the XD line.

I say 9mm all the way!

i have an xd9 and now a xd45acp both service models. the 45 is much heavier due mostly to the ammo. i like the 45 but still carry the 9mm. i do switch sometimes depending on my mood. as far as the 9mm, graveyard dead is as dead as it gets. enough said?

the sc looks like someone chopped the barrel off the gun. very ugly.
