Email about warrany on used gun. Confirmed covered

i emailed them about 2 weeks ago asking about the warranty on a used gun. The first email i got from them said it would not be covered. But here is the second email i received

Quote:
Dear Justin,

Thank you for contacting Springfield. I greatly apologize for not getting back to you sooner. We have been very busy. There is a life time warrantee on all Springfield products for any manufacturing defects. As long as there aren’t any modifications done to the pistol that would cause a problem or change the mechanics of it, then any repairs (again on manufacturing defects) would be covered. There should be no reason why you couldn’t send in the warrantee card yourself. Please feel free to contact me back if you have any further questions or concerns. Have a great weekend!

Best regards,

Megan Klavon

I guess whether or not a used gun is covered under the warranty depends on which day of the week you ask and/or who is doing the answering.

There's really no point in continuing to post these, is there? You get an email that says one thing. Someone else gets and email that says another. It doesn't prove anything to anyone.

You want proof? Buy a used XD and break it. See if they warranty it.

but at least now i have some hard proof of them telling me they will warranty a used gun. So in the future if they should deny me, then i have this as a backup.

Lifetime and transferable. Yes it goes with the gun, whoever owns it.

That's why I always keep Megans email addy handy. She seem to back the company's products better than some of the other people at SF do.

Explain to me why this would be any different than any other major gun manufacturer..? It's a non-issue, IMO.

BigBob: How about posting your source for "transferable"??

In another thread, an e-mail was received from Springfield which says that the warranty only applies to the original owner. There's nothing in Megan's e-mail that covers that subject.

I do agree with Frenchy. The warranty issue is a non-issue. The only thing that matters is what is in the manual and what the person on the other end of the phone says, when you call SA for a Repair RMA. I feel that SA has been generous with their support on the XD and HS2000s. Once they start selling parts, the world will be a perfect place.
