Anyone been denied service/repair by S.A.????
A question has been posed, and I turn to you fine folks for experiences.
Has anyone on this forum (original owner or not) ever been denied service or repair from Springfield Armory under their lifetime warranty? I know there have been some denials of refinish due to wear and light rust on the factory brunrial finish. But I'm talking about actual malfuntion, wear, or breakage of the internal parts. I am particularly interested in hearing from non-primary owners, and owners that have "altered" their XD's in any way. Here is the original question... http://www.txdpsa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=11838#11838

I am getting tired of telling this, but, here goes.
I bought my XD 9MM V10 used from Springfield Armory at the 2004 Camp Perry National match in Ohio. It was in the used gun section, it had a tag labeling it USED. They told me it had been used as a tester for gun mags and as a model for photo's in the gun mag's. (They told me this after I got the gun home, 1.5 hours away, and tried to shoot it, but it would not fire. Reason, the firing pin had been filed away. So, I had to drive back and have it replaced.) I shot it for quite some time, until I had a problem this January, the top strap on the slide cracked right behind the front sight. I e-mailed Springfield Armory sales dept on a Saturday, and got a response from Drew at S.A. on Sunday, the day after. He wanted me to send it in asap, He said Vicki would be calling me Monday for shipping information, which she did. They gave me their Shipping account number so that there was no cost to me to ship it to them. They looked at the gun and said it needed to be totally replaced. I asked for the 45ACP as the replacement gun for the MM V10, Drew was more then happy to provided me with the replacement gun. I had sent them just the 9MM, no case, no anything else, they said they didn't need it. They sent me the new 45ACP and everything else. NO charge to me, anywhere / anytime. Am I happy with S.A. and their warranty, for the most part. They don't respond to other email's too well. I have emailed them twice asking them to come onto this forum to address warranty concerns, and I haven't received a reply yet |

Springfield is an FFL "dealer". They don't need to go through anybody else to replace one of their pistols.
I don't think the anecdote addresses the question asked, however. Buying a "used" gun from the manufacturer (in this case, the importer) isn't the same as buying a used gun from any other source. The warranty question pertains to whether Springfield's denied warranty services to an owner subsequent to the original owner. I doubt that Springfield would deny warranty services on repairs that involved function and/or safety. |

Thats it
Yes I was just wondering how you explain your new XD if it is ever needed. Since they sent it to you direct without sending through a FFL holder. I know of many people who have received new replacment handguns from Kimber and Glock and have wondered just how it all was worked.

Sorry, was out making some money
I asked S.A. about needing a FFL to ship to, and they said not needed as they were a manufacture. I asked it I needed to notify the BATF or anybody else about receiving the gun and exchanging the gun, and they said they are required to notify everybody necessary. Buying a gun used is buying a gun used, no matter who the used dealer is. The gun was CLEARLY marked USED, in the USED gun section. If they went to the trouble to make and install those signs, and put the USED guns in that section that was marked USED, there must be a reason, oh, it's cuz it was USED. |

Sure, there's no question but that the gun was used, but that information isn't germane to this discussion. If you buy a demo model from Springfield, then, of course the pistol is used, but you're the original owner...original owner doesn't connote that the original owner was the original owner of a new gun.

The person with the question that Dan refered to is me. I had asked over on the TXDPSA site because of an email I received from Springfield when I inquired about the Warranty. The thread Dan posted contains the actual response I received from them, I added nothing in, it was word for word. Two other quotes Patti emailed, word for word, are: "We offer a lifetime warranty on all of our firearms against manufacture defects as long as all upgrades and repairs are done through our factory. However, when you wear it out-you replace the parts." and "Rather than believe everything you read on the forum-I would just ask the factory direct. We're here for you!". If I understood her responses correctly, she was basically saying "Don't believe we will fix it just because the forum members said so, you have our official policy". I had asked about the warranty because I had been led to believe that it was a "If it breaks, we fix it" type of warranty, just like the warranty that Hornady and Dillon offer on their reloaders. While I have no doubt about the great service which tec experienced, I am just going by Springfield's own words. What Patti said is contrary to all of the testimonials I have read on this forum. Since I just purchased a used XD9 and am still waiting on my new XD45, I hope they continue to give the great service that everyone has been used to. Hopefully, the responses Patti gave were just CYR answers. Thanks for the input.

I'm going to make this as bluntly clear as possible...so sorry if I offend anyone. Unless you beat the absolut shizz out of your gun...i.e..abuse it by being a monkey and pounding it with a rock to do a field strip or something else idiotic...they WILL take care of your gun.
Unless it is CLEARLY neglect, customer abuse, or being a total moron that shouldnt own/operate/work on a gun in the first place and do some crazy arse form of damage there is a 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999% chance that SA will honor the warranty and take care of any realistic problems. Hope this clears up the warranty questions.
