I used some Hopps cleanser on the barrel and some synthetic friendly cleaner on the outside. During oiling and cleaning if i got my rags mixed up, would a coat of oil or Hopps barrel cleaner do this? if so what can i do to get the origional black back. It's not that bad but definately enough to annoy me and I want to fix.

Clean it with denatured alcohol (or Jim Beam ) or Acetone then re-oil. Keep the Acetone away from the frame.

It's hard to say what caused it. Rubbing alcohol is the same as denatured. I doubt that you are screwed...could be just the combination of the products you used.

That's great!...I'm glad that it seemed to work for you. I personally like Rem-Oil...but that's just me!!
