I'm embarresed. My Girl shot my XD better than I did!

Hey,

Just thought i'd report. I took my GF out to the range last night, her very 1st time. She was extremely scared. I've been around guns and shooting all my life. I tend to shoot semi-decent groups at 20 yrds with my XD9. However, she groups her shots within 3 inches @ 20 yrds!!! after her 3rd magazine and a few tips!

The range master was so impressed that he put her on his .22 converted 1911. She had a blast and wants to go shooting again!

here's a picture.

NICELY DONE!!!

I've found that if you take 2 people who have an equal ignorance of guns, one a guy and the other a girl, and put a gun in their hands and give them the same basic level of instruction, the girl will almost ALWAYS outshoot the guy.

And about her posture: sure, she could lean into it more, but I've seen guys that leaned back further than that, like they thought the gun was going to turn into a snake and bite them.

If she really was "extremely scared" and that's how she was shooting, she was doing fantastically.

Bunyfofu -- be sure to take her back out shooting again, but don't push her too hard. Don't put a .44 Mag in her hands and tell her to go at it.

Unless of course, she asks for it first.

Seriously, nothing turns a person off from shooting faster than an experienced person giving an inexperienced person too much gun.

Anyway, nice job, nice shooting, post more pics, and tell her we're impressed.

Good deal getting your GF to shoot with you.

She stands just like my wife. I've been trying to get her to lean in more too. Once she gets her stance down, she's going to be really good.

My wife and I have had a ton of fun shooting together in recent months. She's usually not very competitive until you put an XD-40 in her hands.

I've found "beginners luck" to be quite prevalent with shooting.

Take someone that's never shot before and give them the most basic of instruactions. Hold it this way. Put your finger on the trigger right here. Line up the sights this way...
They shoot fantastically. They don't overthink their grip or their trigger pull. THey just point it like they were told and pull the trigger like they were told. They haven't learned any bad habbits. It's all good times.

When I started getting serious about shooting about a year ago, I started off shooting very well. Then I progressivly got worse and worse. I've only recently started to recover and my groups are getting tighter and tighter with fewer and fewer fliers. I'm sure I'd be doing a lot better these days if I had someone to coach me tho.

BTW: My wife is a very good shot and it drives me nuts.

UD.

same thing happened first time my gf shot my xd40. First 3 shots, all went through the same hole pretty much, just one big hole. Pretty close to center too.

Please don't bring her to my range. I have concentration problems as it is!
