Going insane here - compatible night sight/pusher question
Here's the problem:
I own a Sigpro 2009, a special edition that has a manual safety. I ordered mepro light night sights for my sig. well, its gonna be a huge hassle to change the sights with the factory sight pusher because it doesn't accomodate for the levers on the manual safety. these are #8 steel, dovetail sights, so I didn't see a reason why they couldn't be installed on the XD instead. But since I went through flaming hoops to get this $180 sight pusher loaned to me by a complete stranger, 2,000 miles away, I wanted to see how much of a pain it'd be to get something installed on the XD. See, everyone around here just has Glock pushers, hence my need to get this pusher shipped from CA. I tried searching the forums to see if its been covered, but too many results for my already strained mind to wade though. I'm guessing the XD slide doesn't fit a Glock pusher does it? I don't own a vise, I don't own brass punches, and no one in my area wanted to touch the sp2009 with a brass punch, so I know the XD will be the same reaction. |

Hope that helps. I know its not what you wanted to see, but its what works. Good luck on the site install. Havent gotten my Truglo sights installed as of yet.
http://www.hs2000talk.com/viewtopic.php?p=338236#338236 I looked into purchasing a brass punch set from Cabela's. They were like $89 for the set... I can find brass punches else were... |

Well, two pieces of good news:
1. called Sig, they will install my sights for free, just ship them the slide, the sights, and put the return auth code on the box. they'll center the sights on the slide, which should be damn near perfect, and is better than my current sights which are definitely off. 2. my XD 9sc bi-tone came in today! picked it up. so I have a new toy, and something to replace my sig while the slide is gone. didn't really want night sights on it anyway, probably just recolor the white dots to a high vis. fluorescent color, orange or yellow. thanks for the link on the sig pusher 'mod'. |

I think he meant for brass punches, but they got vises as well.

Brownell's carries several brands of sight-pushers, including the excellent, but inexpensive, MGW tool. Brownell's has always been great at looking into technical problems and helping out their customers. Maybe one of the techies at Brownell's could try the MGW or other of their sight-pushers on an XD (if they can find one) to see if any of those tools will work on an XD.

thanks for all the info. after picking up my XD yesterday (it finally arrived) i decided I had no problem letting Sig Arms have my slide from the sigpro to install teh sights for me.
I'm still armed for the 3 weeks my slide is gone, and since the sights were meant for the sig, that's where I wanted them to go. i think all i want for the XD is some higher visibility paint for the 3 dots. I'm no good with front dot/rear blade, which is another reason i wanted the sig changed out. |
