brass specs in XD

Ok, I've tried and tried to clean my gun good but I'm noticing some brass specs coming out here and there from inside the slide. Other than completely taking the slide apart, something I'm not sure I'm competent enough to do... what can I do to clean them out of there? ultrasonic cleaning or something else?

I shoot some Gun Scrubber up into it every once in a while to flush things out. A can of it was in the $5 range at Wally World. Keep it away from addon grips or fiber optic sights.

Can you reach it with a tooth brush?

Well the problem is they seem like they are inside the slide where the firing pin is. I don't see any on the gun unless they've washed out. Problem is, i can use a whole freakin can of gun scrubber and they still aren't out. Maybe I just need to learn how to disassemble the slide and clean it that way from time to time. Would probably be good to know how to do that anyway.

Unless it is just really built up inside I don't think it's going to pose a functional problem. You might want to switch ammo too. The firing pin channel is supposed to stay oil free so the brass specs should fall out. Try using compressed air to see if you can blow something out...

I'd hope it won't cause any problems. Presently it hasn't yet, but I just worry about enough getting built up in there. I think my best option is just learn to disassmemble the slide from time to time and flush it out.

What caliber do you have? I shot almost 4K rounds through my XD9 without cleaning inside the firing pin channel. Never had any problems. I shot really dirty stuff too..

I have an xd40. I could probably flush it out better if I were just able to hold the firing pin back while I spray. But it's almost impossible to do that I think.

Are you shooting American Eagle ammo? I had the same problem, and it jammed up the firing pin. Read the instructions for stripping the slide, its not that difficult, clean it thoroughly.
