No. Rnds. = Recoil Spring Replacement

I looked but couldn't find info on the number of rounds before you need to replace recoil spring assembly. So here's a poll.

Q. How long will the recoil spring assembly last? Should I change it after a pre-determined amount of shots fired?

In a previous post, someone said SA was very strict about changing your recoil assy after 2000 rounds, here is a reply from SA after inquiry about replacement .

If the recoil assembly has worn prematurely, and is causing a problem with the function of the pistol, it will be covered under warranty. We do not have an actual round count as to when the recoil assembly will need to be replaced. This would be determined by the caliber of the pistol, the type of load being put through it and so on. There are many variables involved. It is warranted for function from the factory, but not if it has just been worn out. I have heard of many of them lasting well beyond 10,000 rounds. If you would like us to take a look at your pistol for you, we would certainly be happy to. Those recoil assemblies are available from us. They are available for purchase and cost $14 apiece. The part number is XD5190. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thank you.

Re:

My guide rod has a little play in it. I can touch the front of it ( when it is fully assembled ) and turn it counter clock-wise ( and I only turn it a little ), is this normal ? I haven't messed with it other than that, I usually always turn it clockwise ( till it won't turn anymore ) to make sure it dosen't have any play. As I said before is this normal ?

Nope...should not have any play in it whatsoever. Give SA a call and tell em it's bad! They should send you one free of charge if it is a premature failure...they did for me!

Once you start seeing your gun having issues staying into battery, it is time to change. I would say 2000-3000 rounds is a good number to start watching for problems.

I swap springs every 2000 rounds. Nothing like having troubles at a match because of a $8 part.

10,500+ rounds on my SC guiderod assembly. I haven't changed it yet...no need to. There is nothing wrong with it.
