Any steel can be hardchromed. Stainless or not.

Mullanman,

That looks great!
I take it the hard chrome finish is simular to aluminium what first applied?
Or is it closer to stainless?

Ant pics before it was polished?

Hard chrome can be polished without damaging it? It seems like a finicky substance

Two things:

How do you get a gun to look like this:

and why does the trigger on the STI look like something my daughter made with legos?

That is a Nickel finish on that Springer in .38 super.

Hardchrome has a RH of greater than 68....Tough stuff. Polishes up well and is easy to clean.

IMHO: There is no better finish....NP3 is nice and slick but is a coating and does wear off. Chrome becomes part of the metal and is quite durable.

Nickel has more a a yellow 'tinge and hardchrome 'bluish'

You can get that finish in hardchrome if you want...It is chrome....

I have a 1911 i had hardchromed...The barrel is now a high polished chrome finish...you can even see yourself in it. I didn't want that look for the rest of my gun.

Although i do like the "Bling" factor that springer has, esp with the faux pearl grips. It has a certain 'coolness' to it.
