Copper marks on slide

After I had realized the rivits on my jeans were causing copper marks on my XD slide that was jsut refinished and returned to me yesterday, I searched the forums and found out I may be the last person to find out about this. Does anybody know if this mark is removable or if there is anything I can do to??

Use a nylon brush and bore solvent.

I had the same EXACT problem with my XDM holster.. I used a brush and some solvent and it came out after a little scrubbing. Hope this helps

I used Hoppe's 9 and a tooth brush and some cleaning patches. No luck...I have removed all the rivets on my right pockets though....

I did the same thing. Do the above to remove the marks, then put the XD Gear holster back in the case and get a good holster that covers the length of the slide. I use a Blade Tech holster for my IDPA matches, and it works quite nicely.

Sorry for the post, I realized once I learned how to search the forums (I first found it in a google search) that this topic has been covered recently. I will continue to try but as of now no luck.

Never use steel wool on any gun. A piece of Balsa from your local Hobby Store or a pencil eraser, would have worked.

Thoroughly clean you gun. The steel wool has deposited small particles all over it. They will rust very soon and you"ll think it's the frame.

Who ever told you to use steel wool gave you very bad advice.
