My home invasion plan

Just my girlfriend and I living alone, no dog. Cap cod house, but the master is downstairs. We are in MD and you only protect yourself if deadly force is threatened on you, and there is no way to readily retreat. My plan if there home invasion while we are sleeping is this:
I grab XD40 out of nightstand, move to secure the only door, lock it then back up. GF moves to closet for Rem 870, sits down on floor with door partially closed aiming at the door. This gives her a shot of the door while its being opened, and covers her behind the bed and low to ground. I will be behind the bed also cover the door and windows with XD. Figured she will be better with shotgun and stay trained on the door, while I can easily swing around to check windows as we are on the first floor. We are both going to yell that we are armed and to leave the house immediately. She will call 911 tell them whats going on that hang up. Hopefully if they realize the house isn't empty they will leave, If they come advance through the verbal warnings and try the door I will fire a warning shot to make sure they know we are armed. from there if they proceed to try and force entry I will assume they are armed too and take that as a threat to my life. If the door opens and I identify the target as danger I will shoot.

Warning shot? Forget that. Why give away your tactical advantage? Get a security system, it will wake you and make the case that they knew they had been detected.

while on the phone with 911 Dispatch, don't hang up. Stay on the line in case shots are fired, it'll be on tape in case the DA investigates.

I heard never stay on the phone. If you do fire, it will most likely be used to harm you. Saying you didn't give enough warning or did something wrong.

but sometime audio record from that call can be use as a evidence that you are really in danger and you are trying to stop the BG.
Just say "PLEASE DONT HIT ME" then shot the BG" lolz

Staying on the phone is the same a telling the police everything after you have been read your rights. Why give the police, a DA or a jury material to second guess your every move? "Couldn't you have given him just one more warning?" is not what an anti-gun member of your jury needs to hear.

if someone is in my house that is not supposed to be there will be no warning shot fired, the only shots that will be fired are the ones that will be aiming at the BG chest or head. i aint out to wound any intruder that comes into my hose, i am out to make sure that they will never do it again. if this means that they die then so be it. but they will not be getting a warning shot.

in my ccw class i was told that if you need to use your gun to defend yourself then you shoot to kill, no warning shots. just shoot to kill

They may cut your hardline or use a cellular jammer, meaning you can't even call 911. It's like on the airplane, make sure you take care of yourselves first. It doesn't matter how soon you call 911, your bullet is still going to travel faster.

Also, forget the warning shot. Forget it. I don't mean this to yell at you or whatever, but guns used in self-defense are for deadly force. Let's not tread around this point. If you pull that trigger, it had better be right at your target. Plus, you're not going to be able to aim that precisely. Even if you have time to line up your sights, you're going to essentially be point shooting. So to make sure your warning shot doesn't hit the BG, you're going to ahev to go really wide - and then where is the round ending up? Neighbors? Strangers walking or jogging outside? Remember that bullet can easily go through the interior and exterior walls of most homes.

If you require a warning in your state, arm yourself, immediately yell the warning (and I mean, immediately, like before they kick down the door or crash through the window sort of immediately. If they persist anyway, then aim, fire. Shoot to stop. If they die then that was their decision to invade a home. Make sure you know where your girlfriend is (and she you), so that neither of you get caught in any sort of crossfire.

Based on your plan, it makes sense for your GF to call 911, but while you shoudl call ASAP, don't put yourself at danger just to make the call. The cops are going to be showing up AFTER the incident in one way or another, so call when your GF is set up and ready to go, not while she is setting up or dropping her aim.

I wouldn't give any warning shot, just verbal warning then double tap on the center mass.

I will definitely call 911. But when I'm about to shoot, I will "accidentally" hang up the phone. The law right now can sometimes side with those who got shot, rather than who are right. When you thought you are a hero who defended your home, the law might look at you as a criminal who shot somebody... :-S
