Validity of the grip safety
I have seen this several times and would like to add a comment. I like the grip safety since I am a long time 1911 shooter and really like the extra level of security the grip safety gives.
A true story: A friend of mine was a commander in a CA law enforcement agency when an officer in the bookin room dropped his duty glock when placing the weapon in the security locker. Rather than letting it go as they are trained, he grabbed for the weapon and subsequently fired a round through the wall and across the desk of my friend. Moral of the story, if there had been a grip safety this MAY have not happened. Not whacking Glocks just a true story.

Well I'll whack them. There so called safetys suck, this guy up at cabelas was trying to tell me how safe they were and how all these safety features were built into the trigger. If something like your finger or the seatbelt or whatever gets inside there and pulls or pushes that trigger back its going off period. Theres no way I would stick that thing down my pants on an IWB holster, no way.

I've got one set of balls and one ass, I prefer to have neither blown off because something else besides my finger got lodged into the trigger. I prefer to have a better safety device then whats provided on the glock. I know better than to stick my finger in the trigger when picking up a firearm, I am not new to them. But if I am to carry something with me all the time in a holster thats comfortable enough for me to forget its there then I want a little more insurace then whats offered on the glock.

I bought my XDM for the most part because I liked all of the safety features over the glock... I know that you should treat every gun like its loaded with no safety, but I like to know that it has the safety features there if I ever do need them

+2 snakeyes.
a "safety" placed on the firing mechanism serves no purpose, IMO. a safety is supposed to prevent inadvertently causing the trigger to break. placing it ON the trigger kind of nullifies this. when you get right down to it, Glocks have no true safety. good pistols, but not as safe as some. -JJ PS - I think the XD's trigger "safety" is just as stupid as the Glock's...not just being a Glock-hater. |

I usually stay away from posts like this because it's nonsence by Trolls
I'll bet Plaxico Burris of the NY Gaints wishes his gun had a grip safety when it slid down his leg and went off. That bullet cost him more than I'll ever make in my life time. Wonder how he likes prison? To me it's a no brainer If you think a grip safety is nonsence don't buy a gun with one. If you like the grip safty feature like I do then the XD series pistol from SA is a great gun for you to buy. Simple as that and knowbodies elses business. Does anybody really think it matters what anybody else on the internet thinks about Grip safeties. Who GAF what anybody thinks and what makes them think there the GuRu of what's right and what's wrong in pistols. This conversation makes about as much sence as less filling / taste great.
