Well in a situation like that, you really are going to have to consider if you even should pull your gun out in the first place. BG is probably going to be surrounded by innocent people and with the juices going, there is a good chance you'll hit someone and it won't be BG.

The average distance for SD incidents is 3' to 11' and lasts 3 to 5 seconds.
Have a friend stand at the rear of your car and you and the front. Time how fast he/she can be on you in that distance. This is how much time you will have to react. If you are in a shoot out with someone who is 100 yards away you are not in a SD situation. You are in much worse trouble than a pistol is going to get you out of and you need to be getting out of there the fastest way possible.

Then what is it at those distances? I've seen people hit steel all day long with a handgun at 100 yards. What if the guy 100 yards away is shooting at your wife and kids? What if the guy 100 yards away is shooting at YOU and you're in an open field? Go prone and hope to god he runs out of ammo soon? The point I'm making is that being closed minded about what a SD is and practicing as such isn't the smartest move. Is it that big a deal to practice at long range? Does it hurt you in any way? Then why not get good at it, and if you NEVER need to use it then oh well. Plus, if you can't hit the target at 100 yards, you're really not getting good hits at 10 yards. Think of how much your accuracy could improve up close if you practice...because when you're moving and the adrenaline is pumping you won't be making those nice, ragged holes like you do on the range.

Please give it a rest. Personally I think you should have been tossed off the forum for the crap you pulled last night. You seem to have made the destruction of this thread a personal goal. You aggravate me to the point I want to poke out my good eye. 1EyeJack |

I'll give you a different opinion.....
How is this for an opinion? If anyone does what you are suggesting now or what you suggested last night, you and the XDtalk.com forum are likely to be subject to legal action, both criminal and civil, for injuries sustained to them or others. 1EyeJack Last edited by 1EYEJACK; 11-04-2009 at 05:55 PM. |

Close the groups at long range, closes the groups at short range. I'll say that I don't think I've met someone who can hit steel all day long at 100+ yards who can't make absurdly good hits close range, while moving. Think of it as beefing up your fundamentals. Yeah a lot of people can be 'good enough' at close range, but why not be better? Especially when groups will open up when someone's shooting back...hell my groups open way up once I'm moving a lot of the adrenaline gets going. Until you're shooting one clean hole in the target while on the move and shooting rapid fire, you can still improve.
