XD9 Tactical Failure to Eject
I have been going through the threads looking for a similar issue, but have yet to find one.
I have put about 1700 to 2000 rnds through this using the same ammo. I have come to the conclusion it is not the ammo nor limp wristing. The spent cartridge is part way out of the chamber in most cases or gets stuck between the slide and the barrel. This happens 2 or 3 times out of 50 rnds. It looks like the extractor just let go of it. Extractor is clean, gun is spotless. I thought it may be an issue with the mags, but it is happening on mag 1, 2, and 5. I stripped the mags to clean them, but no joy. Any thoughts.

no, it started around the 1200 mark. On the weekend I put 300 rounds through it (124 gr FMJ) and had 4 or 5 FTF's. I have tried running 115 gr as well as 147 gr through it with the same effect. I mostly run 124 gr though. When it first started, it was only with mags 1 and 2, but then it did with #5.

I just bought a new XD9 in service size (4") and am having extraction problems (stovepipes) and failure to lock back on last round. After shooting 230 rounds through it yesterday and having these issues initially at every 3 to 4 rounds and then dropping to about one in every 10 rounds, I feel that it is definitely the recoil spring that is the culprit. I compared this gun to my brother-in-law's same 9mm xd Service model he also just bought (which works perfectly) and the difference in the spring is really drastic. I just called Springfield Armory and they are mailing me a new spring today.

I do not think my issue is with the spring (if it is the spring it would happen a lot more), it is almost like the ejector does not hang on for the ride or something is binding the casing to make it pop out of the ejector.

Here's a thread with pics: XD-9 extraction probs(pics).
Here's my thread on it. My issue was the empty would make it out past the bullet in the next round and then the extractor would let go. XD 9mm extraction problem. |

Does your brass always land in the same spot?
Last time I went out I set up my chair where my buddy's brass was landing. He shoots my caliber and I was tired of picking up brass. Every time the brass flew out of my reach he missed the target.
