XD-9 Tactical

I purchased my XD-9 Tactical in June of 2005. As of today I have fired 1800 rounds through it. While cleaning my XD tonight I found something disturbing. There are 2 hair line fractures (1 on each side) of the chamber. Has anyone else seen or heard of this happening with other XD's?

I haven't heard of it or seen it. That doesn't mean it isn't so. You should call Springfield Armory and ship it in ASAP for inspection/repair. From what I read you should get it back in 2 or 3 weeks and they will even refund your S&H costs.
I would not advise firing it anymore until the issue is resolved.

Good Luck and Good Shooting,
LDC

any way to post a picture of the defect?
two cracks on the chamber and the pistol is still in one piece?
I can't tell without seeing it, but are you sure it isn't just scratches?
are the "fractures" on the inside or the outside of the chamber?

definitely don't shoot the pistol until the problem is identified

Fractures

They are not scratches but definately small fractures. The one of the right side is jagged. They are not inside the chamber but on the outside.

I've only been a member for less than 24 hours. How do I go about posting a pic on here?

Regardless of the situation, once the problem is fixed I plan on keeping my XD. I quit carrying my Glock 31 when I bought my XD9. Love those Tacticals. Look forward to purchasing another Tactical, thinking of the 40 next.

Later all.

To post an image simple type:

[9img]Put the images url/web address here[/img]

So

[9img]http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:rohAcjpZo2N0wM:www.rainbowlv.com/designs/more_designs/rainbow.jpg[/img]

would produce this:

You have to remove the 9s for it to work plain and simple no secret teqniques needed here .

Now that's a testimonial for the XD if I ever heard one! Even with a potentially cracked chamber, he is still a loyal customer and will buy again! YES!

Hurry back TankGuy, I'm curious about the defect.
