New guy, new gun, very impressed Update: Oh NOOOOOO!
Hello to all. New to the forum and the XD. 44-year-old, prior military, 25 years of experience, NRA multi-discipline handgun instructor, CCW daily. Big fan of the 1911 platform. Did the plastic thing, Glocks, back when they were still new but never warmed to the trigger or the feel of the grip and went back to the 1911s. Liked the look of the XDs and when my local guy started carrying them I checked them out. Nice feel for a hunk of polymer and even a trigger pull I could live with. Bought an XD9 yesterday, got one with the Heinie night sights, and put 300 rounds through it that afternoon. Not a hiccup. Good accuracy, well within defensive standards, light weight, light recoil. Got a CTAC IWB in the mail today and it's now on my hip. I'd prefer to carry the XD45 but just that little bit bigger grip doesn't feel good in my hand - back to feeling Glockish, so I don't know. Not a fan of the 9mm round for defense but I can put 15 rounds into someones left eye at 20 yards consistently so I guess they'll fall down.
Springfield seems to have gotten this one right. But then I guess you all already know that, don't you. Oh well, off to the range to put another 300 rounds through it. M |

Methosis,
Welcome to the forum. There is so much information here; learn from everyone. If you have a question, no matter how dumb you feel, it's either already answered or will be within a matter of hours here. Also, don't underestimate the knowledge of these guys. They've answered questions even the guys at Springfield don't know! Happy Shooting, and don't shoot your eye out! Later, The Incredible Hulk

Update
Several hundred rounds through the XD9 - no problems of any kind. Did need to drift the rear sight a tad as it consistenly shot a couple inches to the right at 25 yards but she's tack driving now.
Now to the bad news ... walked back into the local shop on the way to the range to pick up a 9mm bore snake. Suddenly some sort of demonic spirit entered my body Now I must go home and face the wife and try to explain this 'possession' and how it really is of no fault of my own, how I valiantly tried to overcome this demon but could not summon the strength to do so. Has anyone else here fallen victim to this? Is this normal? I only bought the XD9 a week ago! M |

Welcome! Ah I have said it before and I'll say it again XD's are like Doritos, potatoe chips or those dam girl scout cookies, one is never enough. XD-9 service purchased last Nov. XD-45acp purchased last month, that took a little explaining to the wife but in the end she was happy that I was happy and boy have I been happy with all three (2 XD's and wife, she's kinda a pistol too)

I always thought that it was unfortunate that my wife doesnt know the first thing about guns, or how many I have or anything about them... Now iI realize that since she doesnt know the difference between any of them, that I can easily sneak a new one in everyonce in a while....
congrats on your purchase... I love my XD45....
