XD9 4" CCO

Hello, New to the forum, but not the XD

I've been kicking the idea around for a while now, about buying an XD9 4" and triming the grip down to fit SC magazines. I like the concealability of the short SC grip, but I am no fn of stubby barrels. So I thought I'd borrow the idea of the 1911 Commander slide on a Officer's frame. The questions is . . . is there anything in the grip (mechanical bits) that would prohibit this sort of procedure? The IWB concealability of the SC grip matched to the 4" slide would be ideal to me.

Has anyone else aready done this?

It's been done. Do a search here for Cut Down Grip and you'll see a couple of examples. I'd find them for you, but I'm at work.

I conceal a 4" XD just fine with the full grip, but I have thought about doing the same thing. You could always use the grip sleeve to bring it back up to full size when you went to the range.

I am interested in cutting the grip of a .45. I emailed Springfield and they said they had no plans for a compact .45 leaving modification as the only hope for a shorter gripped .45.

I use a Don Hume 715 IWB holster. Very comfortable, but I'm looking to buy a Fist #1A because I like the forward cant better. The forward cant will also reduce the print of the grip because it angles it up toward your shoulder blade rather than it sticking straight back.
