XD40SC and extended magazine

Over the weekend I was in a gun shop and noticed they had the extended magazine with the sleeve that is made for the SC model. I purchased same and took it home.

I found that the empty magazine will not drop free of the pistol when the release is pressed. My standard (9 rd.) magazines drop with no problems. The full magazine would probably drop due to the extra weight. But I think it should drop when empty or full.

Anyone have a solution? If not I guess I'll just return the magazine.

puzzled!!!

Me puzzled!!!

The magazine that you bought for your XD40SC
is no more than a regular .40 S&W mag for a
XD40, only it has a sleeve to extend the gripping
surface and also prevent an insertion problem which
will screw up your ejector.

I sure hope that your dealer did not present the
magazine to you as one that is only designed for
the XD40SC only.

ALL SA-XD mags should drop free when unloaded,
period.

Well, it's designed for the XD40SC in that it can't be used in a Service or Tactical!

Now I'm not saying that the sleeve couldn't be removed, although it won't slide off, it might if the mags floorplate were removed.

I'll return it to the store on Wednesday. If for some reason they won't take it back, I'll send it to SA, after the argument that is.

If it's the XD Gear extended mag, like the one that comes with the SC, just pull the sleeve all the way off. You don't have to take the base plate off.

I had a couple of mags that came with my XD40 sub (one was the extended 12 rd) that wouldn't drop free. They were replaced by SA at no charge. The new ones drop clear with no problem.

Yes the sleeves come off but if you are going to return it I wouldn't recommend it (scratches the hect out of them).
Take it back have them trade it.
