Noob Question First time posting

Hey All I'm new to the forum but I have Been lurking around here a few days. There is a gun show next week and and I will be purchasing my first pistol. I've done some research via the net and decided that Springfield XDs are the way to go as far as accuracy, price, safety etc. I decided on the XD 40 because it is more cost effective in terms of bullet price and it is a nice sized caliber. I was wondering what is the cheapest and highest prices for an XD 40 because I don't want to get ripped off. Also I saw that you can buy a 9mm conversion barrel so that's likes getting 2guns in one. How much do these cost?

And finally I'm also looking for a 1st handgun for my girlfriend. I was thinking of the XD 9mm. Any suggestions?

Thanks

What's an SD?

The Springfield Armory XD comes in three sizes:
-3" Sub-compact
-4" Service
-5" Tactical

If you're talking Texas gun show prices, then a realistic good price on the Sub-compact or Service is about $440 - out the door. If you have to pay any more than $500 OTD, you're getting screwed. The price of the Tactical model generally runs about $20 more than either the subby or the Service. These are all approximate prices of standard, all black XD's. The stainless (bi-tone) slide and factory night sights will add cost too.

I can't answer your question about a 9mm conversion bbl, because I'm unsure of the model you are looking for.

I think an XD 9mm service would be a fine 1st gun for your girlfriend, but you should try to rent one for her first....to make sure she likes it.

+1

If you pay more than $500 then you're getting hosed.

Good advice! Try before you buy.

I've been looking at EFK and Bar-Sto conversion barrels for my Sig 226 and the price is around $150-$200.

I retract my statement. I was thinking EFK when KKM came out. My error.

Do they normally sell EFK conversion barrels at gun shows, or are they only avaible on the internet? Because if possible I'ld Like to buy the gun and the conversion barrell at the same time.

I've seen an EFK dealer at some of the shows I've been to in the Houston area.

...some, but not all.

Your best bet will be buying online.
