XD 40 or XD 45?

New member of this group. I've been lurking for a while and have been very impressed with the knowledge (and friendliness) of the folks on this group.
I've already got an XD 9 serivce which I bought in Dec and have already put about 800 rounds through it. No FTE or FTF by the way.
Looking for another XD but can't decide between the 40 or 45. I know folks will say it depends on what you want to use it for. I want to make it my primary carry gun. Havent gotten my CCW yet but will apply this week. Any random thoughts?

I find the XD45 hard to beat as a carry gun. Fourteen rounds of 45ACP is a pretty imposing carry platform. Don't know what it is like where you live but here in Oregon I find 40 S&W ammo significantly more expensive than 45 ACP. Since I like to shoot as much as I can the, smaller cost of the 45 ACP stuff is a significant concern for me. FWIW

Since you already have the XD9, go for the XD45. Why jump up one step, when you can go all the way.

If you need to save money, you can always shoot the XD9 more.

I'd probably go with the 40 from a cost (ammo) perspective. But, as mentioned, since you already have a 9, you could just shoot that more if you really wanted the 45.

You'ld probably get a bit more concealability with the 40sub, than the 45 Service. I'm not saying that it's difficult to conceal the Service size, just may take a little more than the sub.

easy answer.. sell the 9, buy a 45 and 40, get a 9mm conversion barrel for the 40.

If .40S&W ammo cost more than .45ACP where you live, you are shopping at the wrong store. WWB ammo is about 4 dollars cheaper for the .40 per box, anyplace I have seen it.
