HELP!! My trigger bar broke!

Long story short, last night when I was at the range my trigger bar broke. I am really wanting to try removing it myself and ajames site seems to have some excellent walk through on removing the trigger assembly from the frame. I built an AR-15 lower last and really want to learn to work on my XDs as well. I have two main issues to overcome:

1. How do I get the slide off the frame? Since the trigger bar is broke I can't pull the trigger to dissassemble the weapon.

2. Will Springfield replace the trigger bar if I send it to them? I really do not want to send it to them again. Since the gun was sent there for a boken trigger sprin back in oct.

This is on a 5" 45 GAP, not that it makes any difference. Thanks in advance!

WOW What a perdicmate if you fab a fork or somthing you can poke it in the back to release the firing pin.But I doubt you can buy a trigger bar.
Sorry for the bad news if you do take it apart please take some pics I would like to see where it broke at

It broke on the 90 degree bend right where it goes into the trigger. I am out of town I'll see if I can take a good pic of it when I get home this evening.

Make sure the gun is unloaded and that there is not a round chambered.

REPEAT - IF CHAMBERED, YOU HAVE A BIGGER PROBLEM AND DON'T ATTEMPT THIS. Clear the gun and move all ammo to another room.

Start to remove the slide in the normal fashion - slide locked back, lift the slide release lever. Triple check to make sure NO ROUND CHAMBERED and allow the slide to move forward. At the back of the gun, between the slide and the frame you can see the "firing pin release" which can be manipulated down. At the same time you will need to lift the small piece of metal that blocks the "FPR" from moving forward which cannot be seen from the back of the gun. Kind of like picking a lock, you need to do two things at the same time. However, I believe that just moving the "FRP" down will allow the slide to move forward.

If you lock your slide back, you will be able to see the small piece that blocks the "FPR".

Thats a new one, I have never heard of the trigger bar breaking. Would like to see the pictures when you get them. How do you know where it broke if you can't get the slide off?

Sorry there really isn't much of a story.

I can tell that it is broke because when I lock the slide back I can look down into the grip and see it flopping around. I'll try to get some pics up tonight or tomorrow when I get home.

Sorry no real interesting story. I was shooting, emptied a magazine, put in a new magazine in and pulled the trigger and it didn't go bang.

That really sucks...Was your gun built on a friday?...lol
You can insert a small pick or knife blade into the back of the gun and lower the sear to dissasemble the gun.
