XD9 Subcompact questions
Hi all... I am just starting to get into XDs, but have not bought one yet. I live in New York State where we still have our own AWB, but pre-ban stuff is legal. My County does not condone handgun carry unless you are travelling to or from the range. Bummer...
I was thinking about getting a XD9 subcompact, and perhaps an XD9 full size in the future. I was wondering about a few things... my questions deal with magazines mostly: - Can a Beretta 92FS pre-ban standard capacity magazine be modified to fit an XD9 Subcompact making use of the extender sleeve? What if the beretta magazines have the flat magazine baseplate? - Are XD9 15 round magazines and XD9 Subcompact 15 round mags the same... are the mag catch holes in the same place? - Who sells flush fit 10 round mags for the XD9 Subcompact with a BLUED finish? Thanks for your help, - Pete45 |

The XD9 15-round magazines are the same for the 4" and 3" subcompact. The only difference is the polymer spacer that goes over the magazine when used with the subcompact. The latter comes with 10-round magazines that are flush with the bottom on the grip, although some include one of the adapted 15-round magazines as well.

Yes you can use a modified Beretta magazine but you have to be careful to prevent over insertion with the slide locked back as it can break your ejector. I have been using Beretta mags with XD baseplates because drop free faster and they can take more abuse, like getting kicked across the range and being stepped on.

Thanks for the info guys. I like to be sure of what my options are before I go and purchase a firearm.
