they have a pretty sweet deal on a XD 40 Tactical on Gunsamerica.com. I'm just a bit leary buying a gun over the Internnet.

Don't know anything about Cromwell, but I've bought a couple guns through the internet. No problems. You gotta remember though, there'll be shipping to pay ($20 - $40) and an FFL transfer fee of about the same. Furthermore if you use a credit card they'll bump the price around 3%. Although generally there'll be no sales tax. So you have to factor all these into the price.

Buy locally. Support your local gunshop. It is always best when you can get face to face with the salesperson. I'd hate to see my local shop go out of business. My local shop has a 30 day return policy. You have 30 days to get your money towards another gun. They won't give you your money back, but will let it go towards something else.
By the time you factor in shipping and the FFL fees, typically you can find the gun locally for about the same price. Sometimes cheaper.
