xd-40 firing pin indentation on brass
All my casings have a weird indentation on them. It looks like the firing pin strikes it and slides down a little bit before it strikes it fully. So you see the full circle of the indentation, and on one part of it you can see what appears to be the fiing pin sliding up or something.

Normal for the XD-40. I think if you do a search of the forum you will find several other thread on this topic. It's caused by the firing pin still being extended during the initial phases of the recoil and cycling of the action. Shortly after the slide starts its backward motion the barrel drops down disengage the barrel from the slide. This downward motion of the barrel is what cause the smeared looking firing pin dent. This is normal and it nothing to worry about. Shoot and enjoy.

Mine started out like that that, but after a few hundred rounds it worked itself out I guess.
