Polished Feed Ramp

Ive noticed my feed ramp has gotten shinier and shinier as I put more and more rounds down range...

My question is: Does the feed ramp essentially polish itself as more and more bullets slide across it?

Its possible, I haven't experienced it that way. My feed ramp actually collects gunk and tar and I have to scrape it off once every 2000+ rounds or so, or I'll start having minor feeding problems.

Mine definitely wasnt clean after the last range trip, but after field-stripping it and giving it a thorough cleaning last night (including removing lots of powder residue and gunk) it appeared to be much smoother/shinier than I remembered it being..

Mr. Lee, do you mean after you clean it? Do you clean your gun every time you use it? I've made it a habit to clean after every use, and I have notice that my feed ramp is smoother and shinier. Do you other guys clean after every time?

(R.E.Lee= Robert E Lee, and I am by no means 1/2 the man he was.. )

I do clean my gun after every range trip and am referring to it looking polished after I finish cleaning it. Maybe its the action of me rubbing the powder residue off of the feed ramp (the friction involved) or maybe its the sheer number of cartridges sliding over it..

I noticed my feed ramp getting more polished after more rounds. I can almost polish it to a mirror finish after cleaning now.

Mine doesn't get shiny. For some reason it looks scuffed at the spot where the bullets hit.
Here's what I did the other day..

Yeah, I have noticed the same thing on my XD-9. I haven't noticed this effect happening to my other guns, I kinda wish they would.

Have you been shooting those Felt covered practice rounds again?
