XD-40 has a new companion

I went to the gun show in Denver yesterday and ended up getting an XD-9 SC to go with my service sized XD-40 . I had a hard time deciding between the 9 SC and the new 45, but decided that since I've been considering getting something a little bit more concealable than my 40 I'd go with the SC (not to mention that I only saw two 45's there and they were both about $50-60 higher than the other XD's). I had also been thinking of getting a 9mm since it is more affordable to shoot and therefore making paying for range time a little easier to deal with since I like to keep in practice (at least every other week).

I'm not really sure why I would say that my 40 has a new companion since they will not be together often, except on trips to the range.

Has anyone heard if certain ammo works better in the SC than others regarding self-defense? I've heard some people with concerns of HP's not expanding as they should when shot out of barrels less than 4".
