Issue while at the range
Finally got to take out my xd 40 service and went through 200 rounds.
3 issues came up but only two that causes worry. 1 stovepipe when I shout a round off without the magazine in the well. Maybe I was limpwristing. 2 times the slide locked back while I still had about 3 rounds left in the mag. Didn't take note if it was the same mag or not. Did the second ever happen to anyone? |

My first time out I had an instance where the slide locked back when the mag wasn't empty. I never did notice if this happened or not, but I thought maybe my thumb was hitting the slide lock. I tried a different grip that would prevent my thumb from riding up and I haven't had the problem again. I'm not sure if this is the only way the slide would stick open like that however, could be other causes but I think that was mine.

You might take a look at this.
http://www.xd-hs2000.com/tutorials.html I bought my 40 sub about four months ago and it looks like SA made some adjustments compared to what this fella found. |

It is not uncommon to have a malfunction in ejection when there is no mag in the gun--don't worry about it. As for locking back with rounds in the mag, make sure your thumb isn't coming up under the slide stop lever--it's a common situation. My problem is usually the reverse, my thumbs ride so high that I tend to press down on the lever and the pistol DOES NOT lock back when it's supposed to.
