So, I finally found a local shop that has some in stock, and picked it up this afternoon.
Price was $494.
I am extremely happy with its fit and finish. It seems to have a better slide to frame fit than my XD40 service does, and the finish aslo looks a lot better than the 40 did when it was new. Seems a lot deeper and smoother looking than the original. Did they change the finish to fix the previous issues with it?

Any way, I love the feel of this one even more than my 40. The grip being slightly bigger fits my hands a lot better than before.

Congrats on your purchase. Looks like you paid a reasonable price too. At the gun show here today they were going for $539, no tax. At the gun store where I shop they're asking $549, although I usually get a 10% discount which would get me to the same price you paid. That price seems resonable given the limited availability and the high demand.

Oh yeah, and I'm envious of you and everyone else until I get mine! LOL!
