18 rounds in my 16 round magazine
Ok, I heard it before from another poster and couldn't believe it. So yesterday at the range I was like, well lets see if I can fit 2 more round in the magazine. At first it was really hard to press down with the speed loader, then pop, down it went and I got not 1, but 2 more rounds in. So now my 16 rounder holds 18 rounds. I was able to get 17+ 1 rounds for a total of 18 rounds in my 9mm. I'm happy. That is all.
EDIT for stupid typo |

That doesn't seem safe to force more rounds in than it is rated to hold.

How hard was it to get the mag locked in with the slide closed at that capacity?

With 17 rounds its goes in like a charm, with 18 the slide must be locked back. Thank you for pointing that out R. Dub I forgot to mention that part.
Also I made a mistake in my math, I believe the max capacity is 17+1 not 18+1 once I think about it. Because I put 18 rounds in the magazine and chambered a round, therefore I had 17 in the mag and 1 in the chamber. |

I shot 182 rounds without a hiccup using 17 in the magazine plus 1 in the chamber. When I inserted the magazine it had 18 rounds initially.
